Letter of resignation. Spend a couple of weeks outside the USA and you forget the madness.

For the last two and a half years I've recorded my observations here about the deterioration of American society vis-á-vis the Republican manipulations — both the effective and the incompetent — that form their attempts to create a global plutocratic empire, cynically built upon a faux-Christian foundation.

But now I quit.

It has become apparent that America is dying. We have become not the frog that jumps from the boiling water, but the frog that complacently remains in the water that is heating up so slowly it won't realize it is a goner until it is too late.

I was not one of those who said during the campaign that if Bush wins again I am leaving the country. But now I am planning to do exactly that. It isn't Bush personally any more — if 51 percent of the American brain is dead, so is the American body.

So now, instead of blogging, I am working longer hours to make more money to get the fuck out of here. It may take a while, years maybe. I have property to dispose of, assets to figure out, languages to learn, legal matters to settle. But I no longer like the USA despite having lived here most of my life. This society is entering a long-term downward spiral of dysfunctionality and stingy Darwinism that I am not interested in witnessing firsthand.

You have my profound and humble thanks for stopping by and reading. Someday I may start up another blog with a new focus and a new voice under a new name. It was an enjoyable exercise, but its time has passed.

Skimble is dead. Long live Skimble.
